11 – 13 October 2012
Our tour begins in the Roman city of Koblenz, where the Mosel meets the river Rhine. From there, we set off on our wine adventure to the jewels in the region´s crown.
Our first stop is the quaint, half-timbered village of Puenderich, home to leading organic producer Clemens Busch. We then continue on to Muelheim (Mittelmosel) for two nights at the “Weinromantikhotel Richtershof”, a former wine estate converted into a beautiful, 4-star hotel. A special highlight will be a wine-pairing dinner at the Sektgut “St. Laurentius”, presented by award-winning sommelier and Mosel vintner, Stefan Weise.
The next day takes us to the estate of Dr. Loosen, Decanter Man of the Year 2006, followed by a tasting and lunch at Markus Molitor, the region´s largest single-vineyard owner with a Riesling collection to match (not to mention his award-winning Spätburgunder). Then it is all aboard a riverboat for some fabulous views of famous vineyard sites (Uerziger Würzgarten, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Bernkasteler Doktor) as we glide slowly upriver to our last port of call: Max Ferd Richter, an historic estate with fascinating tales of “Zeppelin” wines, spice routes and encounters with Napoleon Bonaparte.
Our final day begins in Piesport at the Reinhold Haart estate. Here, son Johannes will unveil the secrets of the legendary Piesporter Goldtroepfchen. Afterwards we head back to Koblenz, where we say farewell to one of the finest wine regions in the world.
